Are you benefiting the People you want to on your death?
It is estimated that approximately 80% of the UK Population does not have a Will
There are several reasons why this is the case:-
- People find the topic difficult to think about and discuss.
- It is assumed that a Will, once made, cannot be altered.
- It is assumed that everthing automatically is passed to their spouse or civil partner.
All if these assumptions are inaccurate. The prepartion of a Will can ensure that those left behind are adequately protected and with careful tax planning you can have the security of knowing tha tlittle of no tax liabilities are left for your loved ones to deal with.
Why make a Will?
- If you die without a will, there are certain rules which dictate how the money, property or possessions should be allocated. This may not be the way that you would have wished your money and possessions to be distributed. Everything does not automatically pass to your spouse.
- Unmarried partners and partners who have not registered a civil partnership cannot inherit from each other unless there is a will – the law will not automatically protect your partner.
- If you have children, you can provide for arrangements for the children in the event that either one or both parents die.
- It may be possible to reduce the amount of tax payable on the inheritance if advice is taken in advance and a will is made.
- If your circumstances have changed, it is important that you make a will to ensure that your money and possessions are distributed according to your wishes. For example, if you have separated and your ex-partner now lives with someone else, you may want to change your will.

If you have no spouse or blood relatives, without a will your entire estate will go to the state.
